Ain Atiqah
Struggling for a scroll in her 20s in the Dr. Seng Kew Wee's lab. Interested in the research of microbe-metal interactions including the fields of molecular biology, cloning and gene-editing by mutagenesis.
I am currently working on microbially-influenced-corrosion (MIC) that combine transcriptomics and molecular approaches to understand the mechanism of Mtr pathway in Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 (metal-respiring bacteria) on carbon steel corrosion. This has also entailed creating S. oneidensis mutant by CRISPR/cas9-mediated mutagenesis and overlap-extension PCR. My side quests in the lab are microbial fuel cells and rare-earth elements.
I am currently a Graduate Technologist of Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT), Putrajaya, Malaysia. In 2023, I received an international award grant from the Kurita Water and Environment Foundation, Japan which allowed to work on my MFC side-project during my master's degree.
I'm a newbie-junior researcher (INTP//INTJ) who wants to grow and develop for science!
